Former Terrapins football interim head coach and offensive coordinator Mike Locksley has been hired by 2016 national champion Alabama to be an offensive analyst, according to a report from AL.com’s Matt Zenitz.

Locksley took over for former coach Randy Edsall on Oct. 11 and guided the Terps to a 1-5 finish after serving as offensive coordinator since the 2012 season. New coach DJ Durkin brought in Arkansas State’s Walt Bell as offensive coordinator Dec. 20.

Reports surfaced that Durkin offered Locksley a lower-ranking position within the program.

Locksley is known to have a big recruiting influence in the DMV region. After the Terps’ new coaching staff was brought in, Bullis quarterback Dwayne Haskins Jr. and Good Counsel linebacker KeAndre Jones flipped their verbal commitments and signed with Ohio State.

Avalon wide receiver Trevon Diggs, who many thought would commit to the Terps, pledged to the Crimson Tide. He’ll reconnect with Locksley in Alabama.
