What to watch for the Terps: A new era

Friday’s game will be the Terps first since 2013 without Maryland single-game scoring record holder Brionna Jones or career 3-point percentage leader Shatori Walker-Kimbrough, as both were drafted in April. And with star point guard Destiny Slocum transferring to Oregon State, Maryland will be without its three leading scorers from last season.

Against Albany, the Terps will get a chance to find out who will do the scoring this season before the strength of schedule ramps up next week.

What to watch for the Great Danes: Homecoming

Two Great Danes will be returning to the area where they grew up. It will be a homecoming for freshman guard Kyara Frames (Bishop McNamara) and sophomore guard Khepera Stokes (Baltimore Polytechnic Institute), who will get a chance to show out against their hometown school.

A high level of play will be especially important for the two guards. They’ll look to pick up the production of Imani Tate, who graduated after last season. Tate is Albany’s second all-time leading scorer and averaged 19.1 points per game last season.
