Guard Darryl Morsell has been named the Big Ten Freshman of the Week after averaging 14 points in Maryland men's basketball's wins over Butler and Bucknell.

The Baltimore native was Maryland's second-leading scorer against Butler on Wednesday, scoring 13 points on 6-for-10 shooting. Morsell then helped the Terps overcome a 15-point halftime deficit to defeat Bucknell, 80-78, on Saturday, notching 12 of his 15 points in the second half.

Morsell has impressed with his athleticism and aggressive play style while guarding the opposing team's top scorers. He snagged three steals last week.

Forward Justin Jackson was Maryland's last Big Ten Freshman of the Week, earning the honor in January.
