The Terps’ non-conference schedule might have just gotten a lot better.

According to college basketball insider Jon Rothstein, Maryland and Seton Hall are finalizing a deal for a home-and-home series, beginning December 22nd in College Park.

The latter game would take place at the Prudential Center in Newark, NJ sometime during the 2019-2020 season.

If the deal is finalized, it would be the first time since 1975 that the Terps and Pirates will play each other, and the first time the two teams would face off in the Xfinity Center.

The Terps are 2-0 all-time against the Pirates.

Seton Hall is an excellent addition to Maryland’s non-conference schedule, which has been shortened to 11 games after the Big Ten ruled to lengthen their conference schedule to 20 games.

The Pirates have made it to the NCAA Tournament the past three seasons, and finished with a 22-12 record last season.

Maryland still has four non-conference games yet to be announced, but their current opponents are: Navy, Delaware, Mount St. Mary’s, Virginia, Seton Hall, Marshall and Hofstra.

Of those seven, three of those teams made the NCAA Tournament last year (Virginia, Seton Hall and Marshall) and only one of them, Marshall, made it to the round of 32.
