The memorial service for John McNamara, a University of Maryland alumnus and Capital Gazette shooting victim, will be held in this university’s Memorial Chapel on July 10.

The service will occur from 10 a.m. to noon. McNamara, 56, was one of five Capital Gazette staff members shot and killed June 28 in a targeted attack against the Annapolis newspaper, according to police. Fellow alumnus Gerald Fischman and university journalism lecturer Rob Hiassen were also among The Capital’s slain employees.

Police have charged 38-year-old Jarrod Ramos, of Laurel, with five counts of first-degree murder. Authorities said Ramos legally purchased the shotgun he allegedly used in the attack, according to The Baltimore Sun.
