The Maryland men’s basketball team announced its 2018-19 nonconference schedule Wednesday, highlighted by games against Virginia, Seton Hall and 2018 NCAA tournament cinderella Loyola-Chicago.

This season’s nonconference slate is heavily backloaded — five of the final six opponents reached the 2017 NCAA tournament, while none of the first five went dancing last year.

The Terps open the season in College Park against Delaware on Nov. 6 and travel to Navy three days later for the only road game on Maryland’s nonconference schedule. Maryland closes November with a five-game homestand, beginning with games against North Carolina A&T, Hofstra and Mount Saint Mary’s.

Maryland hosts Marshall on Nov. 23 and Virginia — last year’s NCAA tournament No. 1-overall seed — on Nov. 28.

The Terps won’t play another nonconference game until they play Loyola-Chicago at Royal Farms Arena in Baltimore on Dec. 8, leaving room for two early Big Ten games for the second year.

Maryland’s final two nonconference games come Dec. 22 against Seton Hall and Dec. 29 against Radford.

On Oct. 30, before beginning the season, the Terps will play an exhibition against Division II Lynn University.

The slate looks largely similar to the nonconference opponents Maryland has faced in recent years. In the past three seasons, the Terps’ nonconference strength of schedule ranked No. 127, No. 126 and No. 118.
