What to watch for Maryland: Rebounding

According to Kenpom, Maryland is 10th in the country for offensive rebounding percentage and 42nd for defensive rebounding percentage. Last year, Maryland didn’t crack the top 80 for either of those categories, so there’s been a clear improvement for the team on the glass. The addition of freshman Jalen Smith to join sophomore Bruno Fernando has been awfully helpful for Maryland’s efforts at grabbing the ball when someone misses.

What to watch for Loyola (MD): Staying hot behind the arc

Loyola’s first eight games saw the team shoot an underwhelming 30.1 percent on their threes, but its last two games have seen them find newfound success from deep, making over 50 percent of their threes on 36 attempts. A team that makes a whole bunch of threes in a game can put the stronger team on upset alert, so Maryland will look to learn from the mistakes of Drexel and Binghamton.
