A man with no affiliation to the University of Maryland died on campus over winter break, according to a police department release.

University Police received a call on Jan. 13 about a man who needed medical attention. Officers headed to the Physical Sciences Complex and began lifesaving efforts on Michael Kofi Adu, 37, of Columbia. Adu was later pronounced dead.

Police do not suspect foul play, and the Office of the Medical Examiner is undergoing an autopsy. A cause of death has yet to be determined, according to the release.

In area video footage, Adu was seen walking alone from Regents Drive Garage to the Physical Sciences Complex courtyard, where he collapsed.

An obituary on the website of Donaldson Funeral Home said Adu was “going to support a friend at an athletic event.”
