Quarterback C.J. Brown was 6-of-14 passing for 82 yards before leaving with a concussion in the Terps’ 63-0 loss to Florida State on Oct. 5, 2013.
Terrapins football quarterback C.J. Brown will miss Saturday’s game against Virginia because of the concussion he suffered last week at Florida State, per the team.
Brown was listed as doubtful on the Terps’ Thursday injury report, and sophomore Caleb Rowe will start in his place.
Brown went through normal pregame warmups with the team before the start of the game with Rowe and the Terps’ wide receivers. When the team took the field in full pads, Brown took snaps from backup center Evan Mulrooney, while Rowe worked with starting center Sal Conaboy.
Rowe’s last start was Oct. 27, 2012 in a 20-17 loss at Boston College. He tore his ACL in that game.
It marks the seventh consecutive season the Terps will use multiple starting quarterbacks. The last time the Terps had one starter for a full season was 2006, when Sam Hollenbach piloted the team to a 9-4 record and Champs Sports Bowl win.
Brown’s status for next week’s game at Wake Forest is unknown.
