The Terrapins baseball team fell, 2-1, to Boston College on Thursday night, despite 8.1 strong inning and 11 strikeouts from left-hander Jimmy Reed.
Making the final start of his career at Bob “Turtle” Smith Stadium, the senior surrendered runs in the first and second innings, but settled in nicely, allowing just two hits over his final 6.1 innings.
“Personally, it was a good way to go out,” Reed said. “The offense couldn’t hold up to theirs, but aside from that, it feels good to go out with the career I had.”
The Terps scored a run in the sixth on an RBI single from first baseman LaMonte Wade, but otherwise the offense was stagnant, notching just three hits and stranding five runners on base.
“You have to come with your ‘A’ game, you have to come with energy and we came with virtually nothing,” coach John Szefc said. “And that’s what you saw offensively.”
