Garbanzo Mediterranean Grill in College Park.

Stop what you’re doing: Garbanzo Mediterranean Grill just opened on Route 1 and has so many healthy and allergy-friendly options, it is definitely worth checking out.

With the exception of the pita and other breads that obviously have gluten in them, a lot of the food is actually gluten free. Even the soups, with the exception of the Lemon Chicken Orzo, are gluten free. That’s a rare thing to see at restaurants in College Park, so don’t miss out.

On the website, there is a complete ingredient list, so people looking for a complete gluten free list and those with other allergies can plan their meals a head of time.

The great thing about Garbanzo is that you can mix and match a ton of options to make a new meal everytime you go.  Your options for an entrée are a pita, laffa or plate. If you’re looking for healthy, the plate option is the way to go. If you get it without the pita, which range 335-960 calories, it is even less bad for you.

A kabob platter is another option, but it can be a lot of calories, so it might be a good meal to split with a friend. This way, you get the skewers, veggies, rice and hummus, but in a good portion size to keep it still healthy.

They also have hummus that you can get with pita or vegetables, which would make a great healthy snack or small meal on the go.

On April 5, Sigma Delta Tau is having a fundraiser with Garbanzo to raise money for Prevent Child Abuse America.

If you go between 4 to 8 p.m. and mention PCAA, 25 percent of the proceeds will be donated. This is a great excuse to have a healthy, new meal and donate to a wonderful cause.
