After a standout performance in the No. 2 Maryland women’s lacrosse team’s 17-13 win at Georgetown, attacker Megan Whittle is the Big Ten Co-Offensive Player of the Week, the conference announced Tuesday.

Whittle, who shared the honor with Penn State attacker Madison Carter, led the Terps (2-0) with five goals Saturday against the Hoyas while adding one assist, matching her career-high with six points. The junior’s six goals through two games are tied with senior attacker Caroline Wannen for the team lead.

The Glenwood native has racked up several accolades in her time at Maryland, earning All-Big Ten honors as a freshman and sophomore. She was an Inside Lacrosse first team All-American in 2016 after pacing the team with 76 goals to rank second in the country.

Whittle was one of three Terps who earned preseason first team All-American recognition entering this campaign.

She’ll help spearhead the Terps attack when the team welcomes No. 1 North Carolina to Maryland Stadium on Saturday for a rematch of last year’s national championship.
